Amy Colosimo Named Section V Class D3 Coach of the Year

Rochester, N.Y. – Head varsity volleyball coach Amy Colosimo was named the 2015 Section V Class D3 Coach of the Year after guiding the Wolves to a 10-7 regular season record and the no. 5 seed in this year’s Section V Class D3 Tournament. The Wolves advanced to the semifinals where they would lose in 3 games to eventual champion and Finger Lakes West rival Honeoye.

It was the 11th time in 13 years that the coaching combination of Amy Colosimo and Dan DeYoung have led the Wolves to a sectional semifinals finish or better. Colosimo and DeYoung have led HAC to 2 sectional titles in 2011 and most recently 2013.

The Wolves also had several members of the volleyball team that earned Finger Lakes West recognition for their efforts this past season.

1st Team Finger Lakes West

Rebecca Orbach – Senior outside hitter notched 13 kills to help Wolves win 3-2 over previously unbeaten Mynderse. 4-year varsity player was named honorable mention as a junior and helped HAC win a sectional title in 2013 as a sophomore. Named to All-Tournament Team for both Section V’s Class D3 Tournament and at this year’s HAC Volleyball Invitational.

2nd Team Finger Lakes West

Imani Baker – Sophomore libero and already a 2-year member on HAC’s varsity team, Baker racked up a personal-best of 25 digs and also 8 serving aces in 3-2 loss against Honeoye during the regular season. Named to All-Tournament team this past season in Section V’s Class D3 Tournament.

Alyssa Broberg – Senior setter and captain (pictured above) notched a personal-best 41 assists in a 5-game loss to eventual sectional champion Honeoye during the regular season. 4-year varsity player also made 2nd Team Finger Lakes West as a junior. Member of the 2013 sectional championship team.

Honorable Mention

Kate Bartlett – Senior middle competed 4-years on the varsity team and was part of HAC’s 2013 sectional championship team. Had a terrific all-around match at homecoming in a win over C.G. Finney finishing with 5 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks and 2 digs.

Caroline Mealey – Sophomore outside hitter had a solid debut varsity season. Had a personal-best 14 kills in 2-3 loss at Mynderse during the regular season.
