HAC Boys Take 2nd overall at Class D Sectionals

HAC Boys Swim 2014

Bath, N.Y. – HAC’s boys swim team finished 2nd at Section V’s Class D championships as the Wolves had a terrific performance and totaled the most amount of swimming event points among the 16 schools competing. HAC was outscored 320-260.5 by the York Knights who captured their 3rd straight Class D Championship.

York’s Dylan Dougal finished 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th to amass 65 teams points in diving events to help push York to their 3rd straight Class D swim title.

HAC Boys Swim Jack Gumina 2014

HAC junior Jack Gumina (pictured above) won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.54 and finished 2nd in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.43

Fellow junior Elijah Hale won the 100-yard butterfly in 58.48 and both and Gumina were a part of the winning 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that captured 1st place along with sophomore Gil Smolyak and freshman Liam Brennan-Burke.

The Wolves won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:35.33 and the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:30.86.

The Wolves had a fantastic season overall as they finished 12-1 with their lone loss coming to Barker 85-82.

Head Coach and The Harley School’s athletic director Peter Mancuso was named Section V Class D’s Swim Coach of the Year as voted by his fellow Class D Coaches for the 5th time of his coaching career as the Wolves also captured the Genesee Region Division II Swim title and Genesee Region League Championship this past season.

The Wolves will race next at New York State Swim Meet, which starts this Friday, February 28th at the Webster Aquatic Center.
